Rick, our director, just visited with a client and her fourteen-year-old son who wanted to share their story with you. First and foremost, they want all of our donors to know how grateful they are for our help. Julie, the mom, cried throughout the conversation and wanted us to know that without our support, they wouldn't have had a very nice Christmas this year. Their home was burglarized last month, and the thieves stole $1,000 and all their Christmas gifts. Julie supports her family on SSI and even though they receive food stamps she says it simply isn't enough to feed her family of five. Julie is very proud of her son because even though their own family struggles, he collects food to donate to local food banks. Julie loves to knit and frequently makes baby blankets, hats, gloves and scarves which she donated to local shelters. If anyone has any extra yarn they would like to donate to Julie, please drop it off at the food bank -- she would love to get it so she can continue this tradition of helping others.
