The White Center Food Bank (WCFB) is the largest food bank in our community, playing a crucial role in keeping an underserved part of King County fed. In 2022, we saw more than 95,000 visits by individuals that turned to us for healthy and culturally familiar food. Even still, we know there are more food insecure people in our community to serve.

Each one of our customers has the opportunity to shop, just like they would in a grocery store, for the items they and their families want and need. Customers are able to choose from an incredible selection of dry, canned, and perishable items; including fresh produce, meat, eggs, and dairy. We also provide diapers, formula and other supplies through our Baby Pantry to help ease the financial burden for families with young children.

Providing nutritious food for everyone who needs support takes our entire community, and as we look to the future we know we can eradicate food inequity right here where we live, work, and play. We’re excited to share our future plans with you and invite you to partner with us to keep the community fed.

White Center Food Bank's current facility is leased from King County and will be redeveloped into affordable housing in 2024. After several years of searching, we purchased a building in the heart of downtown White Center.

This new location will provide ample space for WCFB to grow and is centrally located along several major bus lines. However, substantial renovations and other upgrades are needed to make the food bank’s new home welcoming and hospitable to everyone.

In all of this, the White Center Food Bank is looking beyond the old models of service and working to develop new ways to nourish our community with equity, accessibility, and dignity as our guiding principles.

Improving Service to Our Community

The new White Center Food Bank will be more than just a place where people can get food. It will be a welcoming community hub located directly in the heart of the changing and growing downtown White Center.

This new facility will bring together an incredible array of community programing, hosted both by the food bank and partner organizations. We want people from all walks of life to enter through our doors together, so that everyone feels comfortable receiving food whenever they need it.

To achieve the goal of better serving our customers at our new site, we are beginning our 5-year strategic plan to guide our approach.

This process, and how we move forward, will be informed by the community we serve and voices not normally at the table. We want to be part of the solution to the socioeconomic issues facing our neighbors and will work with partner agencies and the larger community so that everyone can live a healthy and stable life.

Customers and Volunteers

Reimagining White Center Food Bank

A Food Hub for All

From distributing healthy food to our customers to potentially serving as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) pickup location to food-centered community events, we envision this new space as serving as a central food hub for the White Center community and beyond.

Customers, Volunteers, Community

Our new site will provide a more comfortable shopping experience for our customers, improved facilities to train and host our volunteers and a community space to welcome partners and hold special events.

Partnership in Downtown White Center

Our strong relationships with many downtown businesses will only improve in our new location. Once we move closer and become part of the fabric of the downtown core, we look forward to improved partnerships for in-kind donations, cross promotion of White Center events and a more consistent presence in the community.

Capital Campaign Donor Wall

This is our Donor Wall where we honor all of the donors who participated in our Capital Campaign and helped us secure the funds for our new facility. When we were looking for a new space for our organization, we needed to find a home that was permanent and for that we needed to secure funding via a loan. We were able to secure initial funding for the loan, but we still have a way to go before we fully pay it off. We are still running our Capital Campaign to finish paying off our loan and if you donate to that campaign, we will add your name to the wall! We do not require any minimum donation amount to have your name added as the way we see it is this building and organization is for the community and paid for in part by the community it serves.
